Looking for a taxidermist to preserve your trophy? We want to welcome you to the online gallery of Monteith Bird Taxidermy.  We are a family-owned Christian business of over 20 years with a desire to glorify God in the work that we produce for our customers.  Recently, my two sons have joined the business in helping to keep up with the growing demand.  We also offer other forms of taxidermy services such as skull work and tanning.  Please have a look through the galleries to get ideas on how to mount your next wildfowl trophies.

We look forward to working with you.

What Sets Our Taxidermy apart?

A Different Outlook

Although many may view taxidermy as some sort of production-based business, we view taxidermy as art.  Our goal is to produce the best work possible and to offer habitat dioramas that will make your piece unique and memorable.  If you have an idea of what you want, the chances are we can make that idea a reality.

Taxidermists oftentimes use harmful chemicals to preserve skins for mounting.  I have witnessed numerous taxidermists dying of cancer and other similar diseases that are probably related to the chemicals they used in their profession.  If it’s bad for the taxidermist, then one could probably assume that it’s bad for the customers as well.  I have made it my goal to eliminate harmful chemicals in the mounting process such as mineral spirits, lacquer paints, formaldehyde, or any other harmful tanning solutions while also not comprising on quality.  I want you to not only be satisfied with the quality of work but to also be ‘safe’ when displaying the mount in your homes.

Our turnaround time on most taxidermy is 1 year.  We limit ourselves on the amount of work we take in so that we can maintain this turnaround.

We offer multiple locations for you to drop taxidermy off.  We have drop-off locations in Rapid City, Webster, and near Watertown South Dakota.  You could also ship your birds to us using second-day air and an insulated box.

We do work for several out-of-state customers and outfitters.  Because of this demand, we have created a resilient way to ship mounts across the US and even to other nations.

We also do wholesale work for fellow taxidermists.  If you are interested in hiring us for bird taxidermy, please contact us and we can send you our wholesale pricelist.
